I am finding that I am not as quick to pull my camera out these days. They tell us to take lots of pictures when we first arrive because later on things will start to look normal to us. Maybe that is true or maybe you start wanting to feel less like a tourist and more like a local. Anyway- I wanted to share a few pictures with you from the last several weeks to give you another little glimpse into my life.

This is Rostik, the little boy that I met in the park near my apartment the other day when I decided to study outside. He was a serious little guy but very friendly. He was very patient with me and my Russian and we had a nice little chat. He sat there for a long time watching me do my homework and occasionally asking questions. He also introduced me to a number of his friends who happened along.

I celebrated my birthday on May 29th and my missionary family and Ukrainian friends helped to make sure that it was a special birthday. Sorry I don't have any better pictures than this one. The doily was a gift made by my Russian tutor. The vase was a gift from friends from church, and the flowers I bought for myself because I thought they were pretty (and they only cost about 50 cents!). I did later get some flowers from some other Ukrainian friends (which I failed to get a picture of).
