Mission's Movement?

Holly Friesen on November 21, 2011

Where do you think the next great missions movement will come from? Our brothers and sisters in central & Eastern Europe are catching the vision for world missions and I personally believe we will see some exciting things happening in this area of the world in the next few years.

In early November our region hosted a mission’s round table in Kiev, Ukraine and I was able to take part in it. ABWE missionaries and their national partners from all over central & Eastern Europe and the Mediterranean met to learn more about what is being done in the area of cross cultural ministry in this part of the world and to learn from each other. It was exciting to see the passion for missions that God has given a number of the leaders in our region.

Riding up to Kiev with Carol Bagley & my partner VeraRiding up to Kiev with Carol Bagley & my partner VeraI enjoyed meeting new people and getting to know some of our partners better. I was especially blessed by our brothers that came from a nation that is currently undergoing a great deal of persecution. They were so joyful, even when speaking about the persecution they are experiencing. Their prayer request for their people was that they would live without fear. These men were also looking beyond their own suffering and making plans to send missionaries to a neighboring country! How often is my vision obscured by my own self-centeredness? There is much we could learn from these men! What a privilege to get to rub shoulders with them!

Pray for a growing passion for cross cultural missions in the Ukrainian church and in our region…and stay tuned! I believe God is going to do some amazing things! My new friend Natasha who spent 4 years as a missionary in northern RussiaMy new friend Natasha who spent 4 years as a missionary in northern Russia
