Do doubts ever plague you? I have to admit that at times as I have considered all that needs to be done to establish a pro-life ministry here in Odessa I have had my doubts about whether or not it will ever actually become a reality. I have wondered if we are really going about it the right way, or if I am just pushing my own personal agenda. Sometimes I look at the task ahead and feel very inadequate and ill prepared.

…but then, God graciously reminds me that this is His work and not mine. I am inadequate for the task, but that is why He has promised to never leave or forsake me. I am unable to foresee all the potential challenges, pitfalls, and mistakes – but He sees and knows all and He is able to work all things together for good and for His glory.

This past week God also graciously provided me with two encounters that demonstrated to me that HE is at work. I had the opportunity for a personal conversation with one of our steering committee members. She told me that she has been gathering information and praying about this type of ministry for years – well before I ever arrived here in Odessa. She is excited about what we are planning to do and believes that God has a place for her in this ministry. Another friend asked to meet with me today because she wanted to learn more about our plans. She is a nurse and has had several experiences caring for women who had complications after an abortion. This has been a burden on her heart, and for some time she has had the desire to do something to prevent this atrocity. As I explained our plans and ideas she assured me that this is something that is desperately needed and expressed her desire to help in whatever way possible. She even went so far as so contribute financially to our efforts!

So, we will continue to ask questions, re-evaluate our plans, and seek wise advice. But I do BELIEVE that God is at work. I cannot predict what the end result will be, but I do TRUST that God is stirring hearts for a reason and He will accomplish His purposes!
